history of pa qua

Pa Qua is another one of the four Chinese Internal Arts that is circle walking art, based on the I Ching. This system was created by a man named Dong in the 1800's. He had three students who each had a different Martial Arts background. So, Dong taught all three students differently to compliment their particular training background. From these three men came many different branches of this style that is being taught today. The Pa Qua System is based on circle walking, which leads to a Eight Qua form. The practitioner fights by coiling around their attacker like a dragon or snake coils around its' prey. There are also linear movement forms in the system. This systems fighting is based on trapping, throwing, kicking and controlling the attackers force at a very close range.
